NBC’s World of Dance is the most exciting dance show on TV, especially for the performers. We’ve been catching up with the many acts and soloists lately to find out more about their experience, and today we’re chatting with Emily Joe of The Posse, a talented group that is no stranger to the spotlight. Here, we chat about what it’s like to compete, what’s on Emily’s playlist, and more.
WOD: What was the best part of competing in World of Dance?
EJ: The reality of being on set at Universal Studios, performing my passion (dance!) for mind-blowing entertainers (J-LO, Derek, Ne-Yo, and Jenna). But even more than that, just sharing the entire experience with those who mean so much to me (my Posse sisters & Tawnya).
WOD: Who’s your favorite judge and why?
EJ: Jennifer Lopez because she understood us, The Posse, as teenage girls.
WOD: What do you love most about dance?
EJ: Dance lets me express my feelings and is my outlet when it feels like the rest of the world is crashing down.
WOD: Why do you think the world needs dance?
EJ: It is a common language of how people can connect to one another, and the world needs more of that.
WOD: What 5 songs are you obsessed with right now/why?
1) “Sinking” by Jeremy Zucker
It makes me want to dance and groove out.
2) “Say You Won’t Let Go” by James Arthur
Very peaceful and makes me want to move.
3) “Flowers in Your Hair” by The Lumineers
Peaceful.
4) “Thunder” by Imagine Dragons
Makes me feel inspired.
5) “Stay” by Zedd and Alessia Cara
I like the beats in the back.
