The biggest, most inspiring dance competition ever is coming to your TV—and it’s like nothing you’ve seen before. Superstar judges meet the world’s best dancers in NBC’s World of Dance, a new dance competition show with a surprising twist. The prize? A whopping $1 million.
With industry stars Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo, and Derek Hough at the judge’s table and host/mentor Jenna Dewan Tatum providing support, the World of Dance competitors will have to battle it out to prove they have million-dollar talent. Premiering May 30th at 10/9 central—right after America’s Got Talent—the show will be an exciting celebration of all things dance.
World of Dance: How It Works
The 10-episode show will be an exciting and nerve-wracking competition and showcase of the world’s most elite dancers, celebrating the artistry, precision and athleticism of dance. And when we say dance, we mean all types. Solo dancers will take on duos and crews in a range of styles, including hip-hop, popping, locking, tap, ballet, break dancing, ballroom, stomping, and more.
Competitors were handpicked from qualifying events and thousands of online submissions, then divided into three divisions:
- Junior (any size act, 17 years old and under)
- Upper (groups of 1-4, 18 and older)
- Team (groups of 5+, 18 and older).
Throughout the competition, celebrity judges will score competitors according to custom criteria developed by World of Dance, including Performance, Technique, Choreography, Creativity, and Presentation.
The grand prize winner has to make it through five rounds of competition—Qualifiers, Duels, The Cut, Divisional Finals and the Grand Final—to claim the prize.
