The 2017 World of Dance Finals will be held in Pasadena on July 22, 2017, and we can’t wait. This annual event features the winners of World of Dance competitions around the world—the best of the best—facing off to win the title, plus performances by industry starts, vendors, DJs, artists, and a lot more. In anticipation of this must-see event, we’re getting to know the many competitors from around the world.
Today, we’re meeting UDS JUNIOR, Youth Division Winner for World of Dance Lithuania 2017. We caught up with the crew to find out how they met, what it was like to compete in WOD, what they’re looking forward to, and more.
Crew name: UDS JUNIOR
Title: Youth Division Winners World of Dance Lithuania 2017
Hometown: Lublin, Poland
WOD: Can you give us a little background about the crew: how long have you been together/how did you meet?
UDS: Most of us got acquainted in Dance Studio UDS. The majority have been dancing since childhood, which means from 7-8 years old; some of us have been dancing in this studio since we were 3 years old. But it does not matter when we joined this studio; every show, action, or trip brings us closer and closer. We always support each other and inspire to be and look the best. Every year we work harder and harder, and now we get a chance to visit and perform in the United States.
WOD: Other than winning first place, what was your favorite part of competing at the World of Dance qualifier?
UDS: Everyone was cheering during the performances. Thank you to the two guys who were leading, which made the atmosphere chill and cool. The environment was relaxing, not like in the other championships where there was more competition.
WOD: What do you think made your performance stand out enough to win?
UDS: We worked really hard together. We spent so much time on practicing choreography and preparing what we will show on stage. We know each other really well, and we make a good team. We always hope the audience will like us and what we show. We hope they appreciate our effort 😉
WOD: What’s your crew’s dance philosophy?
UDS: Be appreciative for what you have. Be humble no matter what have you done or won. Every single person in the group is important, and we need to support each other by being true to your dance family. Be a good person—not only good dancer. We try to develop our community with these kind of values.
WOD: What are you most excited about for the WOD Finals in Pasadena?
UDS: The dancers that we will see…their level of advancement. The atmosphere during the competition will be amazing for sure. We can’t wait to take classes in L.A., see so many places. The whole trip will be one of the biggest dreams for every single person in this group. Maybe two or three people from our group have been to the U.S., so it’s something big for us and we want to enjoy every single minute in this place. We are sure that this trip will motivate us to work hard even more. We will spend so much time together 😉
WOD: Anything else before we go?
UDS: We’re actually fundraising for our trip to U.S. because many of our parents don’t have that much money to send us. If anyone can donate, we appreciate it. We are very happy about our adventure to World of Dance! It’s something big, which will stay in our hearts and bodies for so long. We hope that we don’t mess it up!
