NBC’s World of Dance is coming to our TV screens May 30th at 10/9 central, and the buzz is already starting. With celebs J-Lo, Ne-Yo, and Derek Hough at the judges table, and host/mentor Jenna Dewan Tatum lending her support, the dance competition show is like no other. (Oh, did we mention that you’ll be seeing the world’s best dancers battling it out for a $1 million prize?)

To share a little more about what makes the show so amazing, Jenna Dewan Tatum stopped by the Today show to chat everything from World of Dance to the new Las Vegas show Magic Mike Live. (If you didn’t catch J-Lo on Today earlier this week, you can see it here.)

For Jenna, the dance competition show is more than a job—it’s personal. Having started dance at 5 years old and traveled around the competition circuit, she has first-hand knowedge of what contestants are going through.

“That’s why I love this show so much, because I relate to these dancers,” she told the Today crew. Using her own intimate knowledge of the industry, she was determined to support the contestants as much as possible.

“I would give them little bits and hints and tips that would help them give a performance that I know would get the judges on their feet,” she says.

And with the $1 million prize at stake, that mentorship was invaluable. (She even joked she wished she could have entered the competition.)

Take a look to see more of what Jenna had to say.
