Jadyn Hernandez of The Posse is no stranger to the spotlight. The contemporary group made their debut on NBC’s World of Dance, but they’ve done plenty before that. They’ve worked on stuff for H&M, Justin Bieber, and Sia, and they also happen to be reigning National Grand Champions at the Radix Dance Convention.

But competing on World of Dance was certainly a new adventure. To find out what it was like, we caught up with Jadyn to chat about who her favorite judges were, what’s on her playlist, and more.

WOD: What was the best part of competing in World of Dance?

JH: The best part was meeting the amazingly talented contestants and meeting the phenomenal judges in person, especially J-Lo!

WOD: Who’s your favorite judge, and why?

JH: My favorite judge is J-L0 because she’s the ultimate triple threat and an inspiring role model to girls like me, who want to do it all: sing, act, dance, own a clothing line, etc.

WOD: What do you love most about dance?

JH: It’s the feeling I get when I dance; it makes me feel happy inside and out. It’s about performing and sharing a story. When I’m dancing, I can be whoever I want to be and spread my message.

WOD: Why do you think the world needs dance?

JH: It’s therapy and makes people happy and feel good inside. It brings the world together.

WOD: What 5 songs are you obsessed with right now/why?

1) “Perm” by Bruno Mars

It’s such a fun song to groove to!

2) “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee ft. Justin Bieber

Who doesn’t love hearing Justin sing in Spanish?!

3) “Believer” by Imagine Dragons

This song is strong and powerful. It’s about believing in yourself and once you do, you are unstoppable.

4) “Issues” by Julia Michaels

Her voice is refreshing and different.

5) “I’m the One” by DJ Khaled ft. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, Lil Wayne

It’s the new upbeat summer song and super catchy!

WOD: Anything else before we go?

JH: Sharing this World of Dance journey with my dance sisters from The Posse was truly one to remember. We hope to continue to inspire girls of our generation and the ones after that—if you put your heart and mind to it #everythingisPOSSEble!
